Overview

Lotions & Potions is a cherished local establishment that has been in the heart of Tempe, AZ since 1969. With a reputation as the "original fragrance shop," they offer bespoke body care and an eclectic range of gift shop items. Despite being a beloved shop in downtown Tempe, their online footprint has been nonexistent, with a perpetually "under construction" website. The objective of this project was to reimagine the website and streamline the e-commerce experience, delivering a user-friendly interface that enhances the brand's digital presence.

The current website

Upon looking at the current website for lotions&potions.com, many questions arise. When viewed on both desktop and mobile, the pages appear to not fill the entire page.

Products have no product descriptions nor do they have photos of most of their products. The shop also sells an enormous amount of fun knick-knacks and gift shop items but there is no way to tell that from looking at the website.

User Interviews

All users were potential users for lotions & potions or users of body care products and gift shops. I chose this method because I wanted to uncover any frustrations and needs for their potential users to improve their online experience.

So what do the users want?

In order to gain more insight into the customer’s experience on the Lotions & Potions website, I conducted user interviews with current and potential users of L&P. Additionally, I conducted task analysis with each interviewee.
